While individuals in the Internet Marketing field love Internet Marketing for the possibilities it provides, it is also painfully obvious that people who do not work in this sector tend to view it through a highly critical eye. IM as well as the internet in its entirety are still steeped in rumors and misconceptions. The individuals who work within it realize just how legitimate and fulfilling it will be and, all the while, it poses an important problem: do you want to be judged for this world in your "offline" life?

A lot of the people who earn money in Internet Marketing use pseudonyms. They think up fake names for themselves because they want to be sure that their IM lifestyle stays separate from everything else, particularly when they only do IM part time. Many newer and part time Internet Marketers are uneasy about getting identified by their employers and family or friends. Obviously, even if you don't care about this type of thing it is still important: should you choose a pseudonym for the work you do online?

Pseudonyms transport with them a lot of benefits. The primary benefit, by a long shot, is having the chance to create an identity for yourself that is completely separate from your personal life and makes it easier to make sure they stay totally separate. If you work in a field offline in which a professional presence is very important and people view the internet as something less than worthy, using a pseudonym helps to protect you from prying eyes on both sides of the field.

If you want to work inside of several different niches, using a pseudonym will help you be able to do that. This way it will be possible to build expert level reputations for yourself in a selection of fields without having to worry that people think you are only a dabbler. You need not concern yourself with being asked about inconsistant products or niches because you'll be working in them under different names.

Unfortunately, nevertheless, on the list of larger reasons that people do Internet Marketing business with a pseudonym is because they want to evade their tax responsibilities. If none of the business is done under their legitimate identify, then they believe that they shouldnt have to worry about the money they make being reported to the IRS. It is important that you don't fall for this flawed logic. Even when you make money under a name that is not your own it is still viewed as income and you will be held responsible for it. Further, the IRS will find youpeople whom aim to cheat the system usually get found out.

Whether or not you decide to utilize a pseudonym is absolutely up to you. For some people it is much simpler to use just one name for their "real" lives and something different for their "online" lives. For other people keeping every little thing under the same name is actually easier because it means they have fewer things to remember.
